ALERT - GOVERNOR PATAKI VETOES LEGISLATION TO 'BOOT THE SHU' AND ESTABLISH MENTAL HEALTH HOUSING WAITING LIST:
Mental health advocates were disappointed to learn that on Wednesday Governor Pataki vetoed two bills of great importance to the mental health community. The first, A.3926.a, would have banned the use of solitary confinement for prisoners with psychiatric disabilities. The second, A.2895.a, would have created a waiting list for people with mental health needs seeking housing.
