  • Publications & Fact Sheets - Publications prepared by MHANYS and the National Mental Health Association (NMHA) having to do with parental mental illness. This section also includes presentations by researchers who have spoken at the annual PWPD conference, and works by scholars who have given MHANYS permission to make their work available on this website.

Among the resources available here is a full-text version of the PWPD project's most popular resource, Helping Yourself Through Family Court Proceedings: A Guide For Parents With Psychiatric Disabilities. Also on this page is a link to an overview of, and ordering information for, the Invisible Children's Project replication manual, Working with Parents with Psychiatric Disabilities and Their Children: A Family-Centered Approach.

  • Research - Citations and brief abstracts for selected articles and published research concerning parents with a psychiatric diagnosis.

  • Bibliography Resource List - Resources for daughters and sons who have a parent with a mental illness. Compiled by Michelle D. Sherman, Ph.D. & Lauren Ridener, B.A.

  • Online Resources - A list of links useful for anyone interested in exploring more about issues faced by parents who are coping with mental illness as they are raising their children.

  • Programs - A list of just some of the programs in New York State serving parents with psychiatric disabilities and their families.
