NURTURING FAMILIES WHEN PARENTS ARE COPING WITH MENTAL ILLNESS

In 2002 the Parents with Psychiatric Disabilities project has been asked to present their materials in a variety of public speaking events. As an outcome, the following power point presentation was developed. It is 16 pages long and offers some research findings, an overview of the mission of this project, information on regional task forces so you can join in and get involved at your local level (if you live in New York State), areas of need that the task forces may be discussing and why they are looking at these approaches, access to a few models shared with the participants at our 2001 meeting, the concepts we want to impress to mold the future and of course reference to the source of much of the research for the presentation. May this tool be useful to you as you share it with others and we move forward to make changes throughout the state.
