Mental Health Voter Empowerment Project |
2006 NYS CANDIDATE QUESTIONNAIRE A key component of the Mental Health Voter Empowerment Project’s (MHVEP) goal of educating voters on issues pertaining to mental health in our bi-annual Voter Education Guide. This guide enables MHVEP members and other interested parties to learn about where their elected officials stand on issues relating to mental health. This year’s survey was sent to every candidate for State Senate and State Assembly, as indicated by the Board of Elections. Surveys were sent out in early October and were due back by October 20th. Candidates were asked to provide answers on 10 different questions, relating to mental health and chemical dependence parity, civil commitment of sexual offenders, community reinvestment, housing, and criminal justice, among other topics.
