MENTAL
HEALTH INFORMATION CENTER
MHIC provides up-to-date and relevant mental health information,
referrals, and resources to those who contact our office and through
outreach activities. MHIC is MHANYS’ central link for using
technology to disseminate information.
The MHIC provides
mental health information and resources in New York State. Dissemination
takes place via:

Phone
– During regular business hours, our staff operates
the MHIC Information and Referral Line. We link callers to
a broad range of local, statewide, and national mental health
organizations and programs, and answer questions on mental

Internet
– Visitors to the MHANYS website can access
current news items relevant to the mental health field, find
out about upcoming events, read MHANYS’ publications,
learn about MHANYS’ programs and initiatives, and link
to helpful sites and to a directory of the MHANYS’ network
of affiliate community mental health providers.

Training
and Technical Assistance – Each MHANYS program
provides training and technical assistance.

Presentations
– MHANYS staff members are recognized for their knowledge
and expertise on issues facing residents of New York State
with psychiatric disabilities, their families, and service
providers. MHANYS staff is able to present information on
policy and practice, as well as provide mental health information
to the general public.
