25, 2007 - New York Goes Back To Work Conference
The Bureau of Recipient Affairs is offering a limited number of
scholarships for the New York Goes Back To Work Conference, scheduled
for Thursday, October 25, 2007.
THE
SCHOLARSHIPS WILL BE AWARDED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS.
APPLICANTS NEED TO SUBMIT A DESCRIPTION AS TO WHY YOU WANT TO ATTEND
THE CONFERENCE AND HOW YOU WILL USE THE INFORMATION LEARNED TO ASSIST
OTHERS AS WELL.
Please
submit your request to the Bureau staff person listed below no later
than October 12, 2007. Please do not call requesting to be considered.
Applicants who are awarded a scholarship will be notified in writing
and informed about the conference registration process.

19, 2007 – NYS Partnership for Employment: The Competitive
Edge of Recruiting Job-Seekers with Psychiatric Disabilities
MHANYS,
in collaboration with NYAPRS and the NYS Office of Mental Health
Career Development Initiative, sponsors a full day conference at
the Columbia-Greene Community College featuring Denise Bissonnette,
a well-known author and speaker on person-centered job development.
Featured presenters and speakers include representatives from Department
of Labor, VESID, OMH, Employment & Disability Institute, Bank
of America, YWCA of Ulster County, and Hofstra University’s
WORX Project.

In celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness
Month (NDEAM), join us at the Albany Marriott on Wolf Road for the
Annual Employer Recognition Awards to recognize local businesses
for their efforts at promoting employment opportunities for job-seekers
with disabilities.

27, 2006 – MHANYS Conference
MHANYS will be hosting a full day of workshops at the
Albany Marriott Hotel on a range of topics related to mental health.
Carol Blessing from Cornell University’s Employment and Disability
Institute will be conducting a modified version of her signature
workshop entitled, “Why Work Works: The Impact of Employment

7, 2006 – Universal Access Expo
The “We all Chase the Same Dreams” Team proudly announces
the second Universal Access Expo to be held at Crossgates Mall on
Saturday. The Universal Access Expo is one of several events planned
in observance of Disability Awareness Month. The “We all Chase
the Same Dreams” campaign supports these events to promote
awareness among the general public that persons with disabilities
are independent, productive, vibrant and integral to the fabric
of a community.

20, 2005 – The Business Advisory Council in Ulster
County hosted a breakfast and workshop at the Holiday
Inn in Kingston. Speakers from the Department of Labor and VESID
presented information on various tax credits available to the business
community for hiring job-seekers with disabilities.

5, 2005 - Statewide Business Advisory Council meeting
at MHANYS included statewide partners from the business community,
state and local agencies, vocational services, and service providers.

27, 2005 - In celebration of National Disability Employment
Awareness Month (NDEAM), the Business Advisory Council for Columbia-Greene
County nominated Price Chopper Supermarket in Catskill and
Majestic Pools and Spas in Hudson at the Annual Employer
Recognition Awards for their efforts at promoting employment
opportunities for job-seekers with disabilities.
