2004 NYS CANDIDATE QUESTIONNAIRE

A key component of the Mental Health Voter Empowerment Project’s (MHVEP) goal of educating voters on issues pertaining to mental health is our bi-annual Voter Education Guide. This guide enables MHVEP members and other interested parties to learn about where their elected officials stand on issues relating to mental health.

This year’s survey was sent to every candidate for State Senate and State Assembly, as indicated by the Board of Elections. Surveys were sent out in mid-August and were returned by the first week of October. Candidates were asked to provide answers on 11 different questions, relating to mental health and chemical dependence parity, community reinvestment, housing, and criminal justice, among other topics. Answers were limited to 100 words.

To view your candidates’ responses, please enter your State Senate and/or State Assembly districts below. If you do not know your district numbers you can look them up through the New York State Board of Elections website.

Also, don’t forget, if you are not already a member of MHVEP, please take a moment to join now! Among other benefits, you will receive notification when educational materials such as this are made available. We will also keep you appraised of MHVEP events in your area, such as candidate forums.
