Wildwood Programs Family & Community Services free workshops: Guardianship the Alternatives. Presented by: Ed Wilcenski, Attorney. At age 18 anyone with or without a disability has reached the age of majority. This means that, under the eyes of the law, anyone age 18 or older is able to make decisions without parental consent. In order to protect their children with disabilities, many families seek legal guardianship. Learn what guardianship is, how to apply, who needs it, and hear about the alternatives to guardianship. All programs will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. at their Latham Office at 1190 Troy-Schenectady Road. To register, call Gladys Askew at 640-3318. For questions, contact Eileen Marrone at 640-3373.

June 5, 2008
Wildwood Programs Family & Community Services free workshops: Supplemental Needs Trusts. Presented by: Ed Wilcenski, Attorney. In planning for the future, many parents are concerned about maintaining their child's eligibility for benefits such as SSI and Medicaid, but they also want to be sure that there are funds available for uncovered medical expenses, recreational activities, and the important "quality of life extras". A Supplemental Needs Trust provides a mechanism by which families can appoint someone to manage funds for an individual with a disability. The trust can be used to provide a source of funds without jeopardizing governmental benefits. All programs will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. at their Latham Office at 1190 Troy-Schenectady Road. To register, call Gladys Askew at 640-3318. For questions, contact Eileen Marrone at 640-3373.
